A facility long awaited by universities, libraries and researchers. LychnoBiblio is the interactive and highly flexible version of the corpus Bibliographie Lychnologique 1643-2000 (see LychnoServices - Edition). Regularly updated, it provides researchers with information on any publication (books and papers) related to ancient lighting devices. With its 2100 references, it already ranks among the richest bibliographic databases dedicated to lighting devices. In this field, its scale greatly exceeds the major existing databases, such as DYABOLA (a fee-based service of the Deutsches Archäologisches Institut (1) of Rome and Berlin), FRANCIS (a fee-based service of the system of the Bibliothèque nationale de France (2), or Bibliographie Instrumentum (a free service of the European working group Instrumentum). LychnoBiblio will be accessible through the internet with a simple password. This password will be delivered free of charge to ILA members, and charged to individuals, libraries and universities on the basis of a yearly subscription. 1 German Archaeological Institute |
